Teresa Winston's Obituary
Teresa Winston passed away June 10 at Serenity Hospice. She was born in Houston, Texas on February 12, 1953. Teresa is survived by her loving husband Dale; parents, Marvin and Clara Benefield; sister, Carol (Larry Dale) Bartlett.
She had a Masters’ degree and worked for 39 years in education. She was awarded a Gemological certificate in diamonds in 1996. She created many outstanding pieces of jewelry. Several pieces of jewelry were on display at the Tampa Museum of Art.
Teresa was a stained glass artist. In her home, she has stained glass shades on some doors and windows. She created a standing piece about 8 feet tall that has a spiritual theme.
She and her students decorated a huge tortoise and swan with stained glass. They were sold for large amounts of money for the school. Also, she wrote many grants for art projects for the school. Many grant awards were received that helped provide support for implementing creative education programs for the classroom. She was a creative potter for many years. She helped teachers and students grasp a higher level of the art.
Teresa has been presented many service awards during her career. She was awarded Teacher of the Year. She worked many hours after regular school hours on grants, school meetings and with students. She and her students visited other schools and shared many art ideas. Teresa received help with the driving by a dedicated helping father to distant locations. He was much appreciated. Before retiring, Teresa was the Fine Arts Coordinator for Blake High School.
