Rich and I were both stationed at Navy recruiting district NY. We worked close together in the support field. Not only myself but many others will miss him. May he rest in peace and may his memories never be forgotten
After hearing the news about Richard on Sunday, I attended the Bucs game. During the game, a duck flew onto the field, and the Bucs scored. I turned to my husband and said, "I think Richard did that."
I had the pleasure of "managing" Richard when he came back to help us on a temporary basis during his retirement. He was the easiest employee to manage ever. He had the gift to gab yet was still able to get loads of work done at the same time. I will miss him interrupting me to shoot the breeze about Tampa Bay sports or where I could get military discounts in the Tampa Bay area (even though I'm not a vet). I needed that interruption, and he always reminded me to take a break and not sweat the small stuff.
I also had the pleasure of working with his daughters Ann-Marie and Lisa and his niece Lauren. All of them are positive and hardworking, just like Richard. The Zaccaro family are good people, and my thoughts and prayers are with you all during this tremendous loss.
My husband and I had the honor of meeting Rich and his lovely wife Frances back in the summer. When they traveled to Tennessee to visit Ann-Marie and John. Rich was truly a person that would leave a mark in your life. I will never forget that day and their visit !!
The family’s loss is truly Heaven’s gain✨ they are in our thoughts and prayers today and the days ahead. God bless🙌
I will always think of Richard with a smile - he brought JOY in all he did! I truly wish I had joined the work family sooner so I would have had more time with him. One of our first interactions with Richard was on an escalation - after a few hard calls, he said to me in his fatherly way "they got it right in hiring you" - I will always remember that because I felt the same about him. And when we didn't talk about work, I sought him out to share stories about my girls (and to hear his about his, even though Ann-Marie sat only a few rows down!), our vacations and his journey with WW and how he could eat endless amounts of carrots if he so chose!
I realize now I always loved talking to Rich because he reminded me of my dad - both had a twinkle in their eye, laughs from their soul, and never met a stranger. May they find each other in Heaven and share some stories and laughs, and watch over us all.
I just read the obituary with a glow in my heart. I never really got to know Richie until the Viteritti/Calabretta Family Reunion 6 yrs. ago (June 2019). And when I read his obit it said "He left an indelible mark on the world..." Well the 3 days we spent in FL with a whole bunch of fun-loving family he did just that....he left an indelible mark on my life. I now think of him with a smile....a kind-hearted, lovable guy, with an extremely pleasant demeanor, a genuine sense of humor with a quick and infectious smile and laugh.
To my dear cousin Fran....both Dave and I extend our sincerest love and sympathy to you and your beautiful family for your great loss. Our hearts break for someone so wonderful who left us too soon. Thank God you all packed a whole lot of love and happiness in the years you shared together. All my love.....June
My family has been so blessed with a long and loving friendship with the Zaccaro Clan. It has been our joy and our honor to be friends with Rich. He was.such a bright light in a world that often tries to dim that light. Rich was a positive person and as such, he touched so many other lives with that positivity. It was a pleasure and an honor to be a small part of his very big life.
Richard Zaccaro truly was a special kind of person. He always checked on me at work as I was dealing with elder parents. He would share stories, make you laugh and just feel better.. no matter what you were going through. He even took time when my Mother-in-Law passed to show his respects by stopping by the funeral home. He is a one of a kind.. great family man and friend. He will be sorely missed.
