Mildred H Pagani's Obituary
Our beloved mother, Mildred “Millie” Harriet Pagani, peacefully passed away February 6th, 2019 in Wesley Chapel, FL at the age of 82 after a courageous battle with a debilitating disease. This strong and beautiful woman is survived by her three sons, Terry, Joseph, and Darrin; their three wives, Peggy, Chanipa, and Maria; nine grandchildren, Laura, Steven, Sean, Desiree, Joey, Joava, Sam, Meg, and Mia; and five great-grandchildren, Marissa, Anthony, Joshua, Lily, and Jackson. Millie is also survived by her sister, Josephine, and her brother, Frank. Millie was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria, and her parents, Julius and Bessie.
Born in the Bronx, New York, Millie lived the first half of her life in the NYC and Long Island areas before moving to New Port Richey, Florida in the late 1980s.
As a full-time single mother, Millie worked for nearly 30 years through two careers as a civilian in both federal and state agencies, beginning in 1971 through her retirement in the early 2000s. She was well respected at work and maintained several close, personal relationships with folks she met along the way.
In 2007, Millie began writing a blog in order to share her thoughts, memories, and occasions with friends and family, which she regularly updated for a decade. Later, while residing in a senior living facility, she used her creative writing talents to tell the personal stories and histories of some of her fellow residents, particularly those she befriended and admired. She took great pride in her articles appearing in the facility's newsletter especially because they brought great joy to others.
One of our dear mother’s traits that we’ll always remember is that she always placed her three sons’ needs ahead of her own. Her desire to help care for young children and teens in her community was manifest in mentoring children, both in school as a paraeducator, and after school as a caregiver. Millie also volunteered her time at local hospitals. She was always willing to give her time unselfishly.
She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In Florida, visitation will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens, 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity FL 34655 on Monday, Feb 11 from 5-7pm with a service at 7pm. A memorial service will also be held in New York in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Millie's name to First Book (https://firstbook.org/), a cause she believed in wholeheartedly to help deliver resources to students and teachers where they are needed most, would be most welcomed and appreciated.
