Mary was my neighbor for 21 years. We didn't get to know each other well until after the passing of Gil in '09. Over the years we shared hundreds of conversations, many of them either over my front fence or in her driveway when we got our mail. We talked about our sons (we both had 2), family, daily life, and of course politics. She was very animated when it came to politics!! (LOL!!)
Over the years, we laughed and cried together many times, and though she was 30 yrs my senior, I considered her to be a very special friend. In Feb 2023, she made the decision to sell her home of over 50 yrs. Over the next couple months we chatted a lot, usually in her living room. She didn't want to move, but felt it was necessary due to her recent mobility issues. (thanks to Covid IMHO) MANY bittersweet conversations.
I just learned of her death, nearly a month later. Needless to say, I'm heartbroken. It was news I never expected to hear sooo soon. I've looked up to Mary for years, and told her often that I hoped to be just like her when I reached her age. ...energetic, outgoing, self-sufficient, and independent.
I miss you bunches Mary!!! Especially at the mailbox! You're no longer lonely, and hopefully you're back with the love of your life!! You never stopped missing him. Many hugs to you Mary!! I can see you smiling and laughing again!!! You'll alway be in my heart.
