Manorama Mohapatra's Obituary
Manorama Mohapatra, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, at the age of 91 in Tampa, Florida.
Born on February 7, 1934, in Aska India, Manorama was the fourth of ten children born to the late Raghunath and Rahasamani Panda. She married her loving husband, Raj, on July 7, 1965. Together, they shared a life full of love and adventure, moving from India to London in 1967, then to St. Louis in 1969, and finally settling in Tampa, Florida in 2006.
Manorama earned her Bachelor of Science, MBBS, and MD degrees, graduating from SCB Medical College in Cuttack in 1960. A dedicated and compassionate physician, she worked as a pathologist at Cuttack Medical College, Berhampur Medical College, and the Veterans Administration in St. Louis.
Outside of her career, Manorama had a deep passion for painting, fitness, yoga/meditation, cooking, knitting, and embroidery. She was also an avid reader. She was known for her ambition, adventurous spirit, boundless energy, honesty, and unwavering care for others. Her zest for life was infectious, and she lived it to the fullest.
Manorama is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years (Raj), her daughter Sunita, her son Suresh, her son-in-law Ranjan, and her grandchildren Nikhil and Sohan. She also leaves behind her loving sisters Madhuri, Moni, Rita, and Sumi, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends in the Tampa community.
After retiring and moving to Florida, Manorama built a new community of friends and family. She remained active and engaged in her new home, staying energetic with her gym friends, book clubs, and local Oriya groups. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and career physician, always striving to make a positive impact on those around her.
Her legacy is one of love, dedication, and kindness. Manorama will be deeply missed, but she will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
