Leonardo Limone's Obituary
We are sad to announce that Leonardo Limone, 82 of Tampa, Fl passed away on Monday August 14th, 2023.
Leonardo was born in Monopoli, Bari, Italy and was later raised in Belgium. He came over to America while working on a ship and arrived in Jersey City, NJ at the age of 18 where he met his wife of 62 years, Catherine Limone.
He was a barber by trade since he was 8 years old and later owned his own barber shop in Jersey City, NJ named 'Lenny's Barber Shop'. He also worked on the assembly line building cars at General Motors, where he retired after 33 years.
He is survived by his wife Catherine and 7 children, Catherine and Mark Jensen, Clara Morrison, Esther and Abraham Goenaga, Jo Anne Limone who cared for him for 12 years while he was ill, Natale Limone, Haleemah Limone, and Inaayah Limone, by 9 grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah and Thomas Morrison, Gabriella Bongard, Michael Livingston, Jeremy and Samantha Goenaga, Erica and Victoria Goenaga, Dominique and Benjamin Hoagland, and by 4 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother Catherine Ciaccia, father Natale Limone, stepmother Esterina Citerno, father and mother-in-law Joseph and Clara Pandolfo, his 3 sisters and 2 brothers, his 2 sister-in-laws and 2 brother-in-laws, his granddaughter Jacqueline Goenaga and by his son-in-law James E. Muench.
He was an amazing, lovable, and loyal husband. He was a very loving father and loved all his children with his whole heart. He enjoyed lots of activities with his kids, such as going to the park, beach, swimming, sports, movie theater, and getting ice cream. He had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. He enjoyed making coffee for his family and was always saying "Coffee is ready!"
His departure has left a hole in our hearts and his mesmerizing eyes and radiant smile will forever be embedded in our memories.
Our lives are forever changed to never see him walk through that door and call his wife's name again. An emptiness is left in our hearts.
We miss you and love you tremendously and pray your soul is free and your pain is over and you are with those who left before you. Until we meet again.
