Kimberly Ann Addison's Obituary
Mrs. Kimberly Ann Addison was born on March 20, 1973, in Fort Morgan, Colorado. She was the beloved daughter of the late John V. Griggs and Kathleen Hesser.
Kimberly was united in holy matrimony to Joseph Lavonn Addison Jr. on July 2, 1997. Together for 30 years, their marriage was a loving and devoted union for 27 of those years. From their bond came two amazing sons, JoQuez Kalil Addison (25) and Jovanni Kai Addison (22), who were her pride and joy. Kimberly was also a devoted pet mom to her two cherished fur babies, Koa and Kiko.
She peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Land O’Lakes, Florida, surrounded by love.
Kimberly spent much of her early life in Colorado before embarking on a journey across the world alongside her family during their military service. Their travels took them to South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Missouri, Germany, and Georgia before returning to Colorado to complete their military journey, ultimately settling in Florida.
A proud graduate of Widefield High School (Class of 1991), Kimberly later returned to her studies and earned an Associate’s Degree in Medical Coding from Ultimate Medical Academy in 2014. Her pursuit of personal growth continued, and she was recently accepted into Florida International University to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a planned start in August 2025.
Kimberly was a devoted Christian whose faith shaped every part of her life. She loved reading her Bible and joyfully shared the Word of God with anyone willing to listen. She was a faithful member of Pikes Peak Christian Church in Colorado Springs, CO, and later Grace Family Church in Lutz, FL.
Professionally, Kimberly served in several roles throughout her life, including mailroom clerk, bus driver, and TSA agent. Most recently, she served as a Family Support Worker with the Florida Department of Children and Families, where she assisted elderly families in accessing vital services. Her commitment to excellence earned her multiple awards for outstanding service and recognition for her dedication to maintaining the Hillsborough County Food Bank.
Kimberly was full of life and passion. A proud and loyal Denver Broncos super-fan, she also loved fishing—often out-catching her husband and sons. She cherished every moment with her family, whether trying new restaurants or enjoying a quiet movie night at home. She had a special love for capturing memories in photos, always living in the moment and embracing every opportunity to celebrate life.
Kimberly leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, unity, and emotional strength. She believed in keeping family close, in expressing emotions freely, and in always being there for one another. As the glue that held her family together, she made sure her boys were continuously supported and deeply loved. She organized family meetings, even when we resisted, because she believed communication and connection were sacred. Her generous heart led her to help others in every way she could.
She will be genuinely missed, deeply loved, and never forgotten.
Kimberly was preceded in death by her loving father, John V. Griggs; her uncle, Keith Martinez; and her grandmother, Marvine Martinez.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Joseph Addison Jr. of Land O’ Lakes, FL; her beloved sons, JoQuez Kalil Addison and Jovanni Kai Addison, both of Land O’ Lakes, FL; her mother, Kathleen Hesser, of Colorado Springs, CO; her siblings, Brian Griggs of Colorado Springs, CO, and Jade Griggs and Camrie Griggs of Chandler, OK; her father- and mother-in-law, Joseph Sr. and Valerie Addison of Jacksonville, FL; her brother-in-law, Ceroy Addison, of Atlanta, GA; her sister-in-law, Niya (Octavious) Whiteside, of Ludowici, GA; and a host of loving family members and friends who will carry her memory forward with love.
