J. HAROLD NEWTON, lovingly known as "Figgy"
May 14, 1940 - November 6, 2017
Attended Wayne State University. Started his working career as a young teen with 3 paper routes. His entrepreneurial spirit led to his success as Owner and Operator of Excel Circuits where he mentored and helped many achieve their goals; always giving and seeing the best in others.
Volunteered - Junior Achievement for Young Teens President - Utica Jaycees
President - Utica Homeowner's Association, Helped establish the youth basketball program in Utica, MI.
He loved life and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, skiing, boating, golfing and collecting cars. When he retired to Florida, he got involved in the Grandfather Mentoring Program. He had a passion for helping others and volunteered regularly at the Tarpon Springs Soup Kitchen at the Shepard Center. His desire was to get better to be able to return to his service there which he dearly loved. He always carried a pocket full of $2 bills as one of his greatest joys was give these to little children and being known as Grandpa Newton.
The light and joy that he spread throughout his life will be sorely missed.
