Edward Arthur Murphy (1931 – 2025)
Edward A. Murphy (93), of Trinity, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 29, 2025 at Discovery Village Sarasota Bay.
Edward was born on December 15,1931 in Mamaroneck, New York to Mary and Arthur Murphy. He graduated high school in 1949, and later attended Iona College in New Rochelle, New York and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. He continued his education with a graduate degree from St. Johns University in Queens, NY.
He was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York City for 33 years, before joining the St. Vincent De Paul Society in Bethpage, NY for 15 years.
Ed made many friends over the years, but especially cherished his life-long friendship with the Kissane family (John, Joe, Jimmy, Charlie, and Ellen).
In the late 1950’s, Ed met the love of his life, Doris Fenton. They were married in Forest Hills, NY in 1960 and lived there briefly before moving to Huntington Station, Long Island. They were married for 65 years.
He was an avid reader, a devout Catholic, and a member of St Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, of Trinity, Florida. Ed was a caring husband and father who loved spending time with his family. Cherished memories include Tripoley games, tossing the football around, swimming in the pool and jumping waves at Robert Moses State Park.
Edward A. Murphy is survived by his wife Doris, daughter Carol McCabe (husband Donald), and sons, Gerard (wife Amy) and Robert (Becky Leary), along with beloved grandchildren, Daniel, Donald Ryan, Ileana, Erin, Emily, and Meghan.
A funeral service will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Church on 12/5 at 12 Noon. Entombment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Trinity, Florida.
Visitation will be prior to the Funeral mass at Trinity Memorial Gardens on 12/5 from 9:30-11:30 AM.
