Donald Alan Ziebarth's Obituary
Donald Alan Ziebarth, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 3, 2025, at his home in Odessa, Florida.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on October 19, 1944, Don moved to Clearwater, Florida, in 1957 with his parents, Donald E. and Mary Ziebarth, and his brother, Bruce. He graduated from Clearwater High School in 1962 and went on to serve his country before continuing his education.
Don served his country with honor in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge (CVS-33), part of the U.S. Seventh Fleet in the Gulf of Tonkin.
After completing his service, he enrolled at St. Petersburg Junior College and later earned his business degree from the University of South Florida in 1972.
Don then began what would become a distinguished 50-year career in the manufactured housing industry. He worked in management and purchasing, most notably with Palm Harbor Homes. He retired in 2013 and was known throughout his field for his leadership, reliability, and depth of experience.
He was an active member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and the University of South Florida Alumni Association.
Don and his wife, Eleni Ziebarth, shared more than five decades of partnership and devotion. He is survived by Eleni; their daughter, Alandra Strain (Jeremy); and their two grandchildren, Caden and Avery Strain. He is also survived by his brother, Bruce Ziebarth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald E. and Mary Ziebarth.
Don had a sharp, logical mind and a quiet confidence. Known for his dry sense of humor and steady presence, he was a thoughtful problem-solver who approached life with discipline and care.
He enjoyed golfing, reading, running, and cruising. He appreciated a good glass of wine or whiskey and the occasional cigar. A meticulous reader, he kept records and notes on every book he read. Don’s travels took him around the world, with memorable time spent in Hawaii, Japan, the Philippines, Ireland, Spain, Greece, Italy, and other countries he spoke of often and remembered fondly.
Don lived with purpose and integrity. He was deeply respected and will be remembered for his generosity, intelligence, and unwavering dedication to the people and principles he valued most.
