I had the good fortune to call on Z at Triple AAA when he was purchasing manager, and I was manager of Johns Manville in Ocala. The year was 1976. He and I became the closest of friends and were close to the end of his life. From him I learned something I have always lived by in business.
"Business is business and friendship is friendship." He always honored that principle, but he was the truest and most loyal friend I have ever known of there being. He was a principled man who lived by a code and he was fair and honest in all that he did. He loved golf and I loved golfing with him as we did so many times over the years. He loved USF football and I loved Auburn. He always bet on Alabama and called to rib me when Auburn lost a game. When both Alandra and Caden were at Alabama he called me every week. I looked forward to each of those calls and will miss him more than words can say. We travelled together, we spent time together and I feel as if something essential in my life has died also. Donald Ziebarth, RIP and safe travels. Both Valerie and I love you and Eleni. Thank you for the great gift of your friendship and your love and support.
