Mrs. Harris was my fifth grade teacher, but so much more than that. Her wit and kindness made such an impact on me and my sister that we talk about her to friends and family to this day. Beyond the curriculum, she taught us about lessons in real life. Though it may be silly, I think frequently about how she pulled me aside and told me how she felt about my character before letting me know that she chose me for the manager at McDonald’s position (one highly esteemed) before our BizTown field trip. Those words meant so much to me, knowing that someone who I held in such high regard was proud of me. Mrs. Harris has always been a cheerleader for her students and peers. I am so honored to have been her student.
