Our dearest, graceful Betty M. Covarrubias, peacefully took her last breath here on earth on April 7, 2024.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roque Roy Covarrubias; children, Rachel Mayer, Mary Waugh and Byron Covarrubias; sons-in-law, Matt Mayer and Adam Waugh; grandchildren, Mackenzie Chlasta, Quincy Mayer, Meredith Waugh, Mali Waugh, Avery Mayer, Owen Waugh, Jensen Mayer, Lindie Mayer, Eleanor Waugh, Truman Mayer; grandson-in-law, Troy Chlasta; great-grandchildren, Miles Chlasta, Oakley Chlasta; brother, Moran Malilay and sister, Susie Almeda.
Betty was born in Batangas, Philippines on June, 28, 1946 to Baylon and Abadesa Malilay. She graduated from St. Paul’s University in 1966 and received her BS in nursing. In 1968, she went abroad to Belgium as a nurse where she met her husband, Roy, also a nurse traveling abroad for the same nursing program. They married on December 21, 1969 in Belgium.
Betty was a loving and faithful wife, mom, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She did everything with her whole heart; playing the piano, dancing, gardening, praying, singing, laughing, shopping, fashion, nursing, and bowling. You know Betty was involved in creating something by the touch of beauty and flair in the finished piece. She will be deeply missed.
