William Joseph Loiacano's Obituary
William Joseph Loiacano passed away peacefully at home at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 6th, 2021. He was born on May 10th, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Leo and Mary (Provenzano) Loiacano.
Bill graduated from St. Andrew High School in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Catherine (Cathy) Weiland on July 2, 1960, recently celebrating their 61st anniversary. Bill worked in the family business, Saginaw Fruit Company, until selling in 1980 and moving to New Port Richey, Florida. He founded Gulf Coast Meats and Produce with the help of his wife and sons and earned Pasco County Industry of the Year award in 1992. The company shortly thereafter, became American Food Distributors. Bill continued building his company until his retirement in 2017, at which time his two sons, Joe and Dean took over the family business. Bill enjoyed golfing, boating, hosting amazing parties and beautiful sunsets but most of all spending time with his family & friends.
Bill is survived by his wife Cathy, his four children; Mary Kay (Jim) Bensley, Traverse City, MI; Linda (Joe) Zolton, New Port Richey, FL; Joe (Gayle) Loiacano, New Port Richey, FL; Dean Loiacano, New Port Richey, FL. His grandchildren; Joey, Jessica, Heather, Justin, Joseph, Jamie, Lauren, Dino, Mariah, Nicole, and Anthony and 6 great grandchildren; Giuliana, Jace, Dominic, Kolton, Landyn and Hunter. He is also survived by his sisters; Rose Mazur, Mary Ann Loiacano, Michele (Mike) Szymborski; sister-in-law Jeanne Loiacano and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings; Anna Mae (Ivan) Wilder, Jack Loiacano, Leo (Cathy Jr.) Loiacano and grandson Joseph W. Zolton.
Service will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and service to follow.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Tarpon Springs, FL or Port Richey Fire Department.
