Vito Intini's Obituary
Vito Intini was born on July 1, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York. As an infant, he moved to Genoa, Italy. Growing up, he became a great athlete and eventually played soccer before crowed stadiums. Life was difficult in pre-war Italy, and became worse as WWII broke out.
It was a daily struggle to find food to eat. One time, carrying a sack of potatoes back to his family, he was stopped by German soldiers who confiscated his potatoes. Eventually, Vito would have to hide out in water towers and other places to evade the Nazis who were looking for him. Soon after the war ended, Vito, his mother and sister moved back to America, again settling in Brooklyn, New York.
Vito met and married Ann LoRubbio in 1952. They had three children, Robert, Linda, and Thomas. Vito worked as a machinist, eventually opening up his own Brass Shop. Upon moving his family to Smithtown, Long Island in 1968, he opened up Southbay Fishing Station in West Sayville, where he rented out boats and equipment to local fishermen. Vito retired to Florida and resided in Hudson for many years. He acquired Alzheimers disease and his eight year battle with the disease ended on December 28, 2016.
He is survived by his wife Ann, sons Robert and Thomas, and daughter Linda. Grandchildren Alana, Holly, Kenny, and Dawn.
