Virginia R Springman's Obituary
Springman, Virginia, 85, passed away in Parker, Colorado on Sunday, November 10, 2013. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until noon. She was born Virginia Dorothy Ratzer on March 3, 1928 in Passaic, New Jersey. She was a longtime resident of Wyckoff, New Jersey and New Port Richey, Florida.
While still in high school, Virginia served as a volunteer with the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. One week after graduating, she became a telephone operator with New Jersey Bell and worked for them until the birth of her second child. She later returned to the company and became one of their first female supervisors in charge of installers and splicers. She retired in 1985 but remained a proud member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Martin J. Springman Jr.; her parents, Charles and Josephine Ratzer; and grandson Jordan Springman.
She is survived and remembered with love by her children, Martin J. Springman Jr., Richard Springman-Kent and his husband Craig, Kathy Avelares, John Springman, Janet Kimble and her husband Tyrone; her sisters, Audrey Vagell and Dolores Pong; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, and her loyal dog, Wrinkles.
