Born in Fulton, Mississippi on March 30, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Mattie A and Thomas Jefferson Bell.
Violet and 2 of her sisters relocated to Kenosha, Wisconsin around 1953 and became owners of a diner. While operating the diner she met her then to be husband Anthony LaMacchia. They were married on November 19, 1953 at the Kenosha County Court House.
Violet being of many talents soon began a long prosperous career as a professional seamstress serving the upcoming business women's and bridal community. Her creations included fashionable business suits and beautiful wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses and formals.
Around 1968 Violet made another career change and built a new business, building and all, Le Vi's Wig Salon on 22 Avenue. She owned and operated this business for many years and filled another need for women in the community.
Her story comes full circle in 1973 when she sold her business and relocated to Odessa, Florida to be with her mother and sisters again.
All four sisters worked as banquet hosts for the infamous Bay Harbor Inn owned by George Steinbrenner for my years. While doing that Vi never stayed idle. Her love of collecting jewelry and antiques prompted her to open a small resale shop with her sisters. This business prospered and soon they had to expand the size of the shop. They operated this for many years til health issues overcame them one by one.
Violet was known for her kind and generous heart. Her faith was very important to her. She loved her children and family. Her home was always open for her family and friends to move in and have food and shelter for whatever time was needed. Many people throughout the years came to live with Vi and found comfort there.
Coming again full circle Vi spent the later years of her life at her granddaughter Julie's home.
Vi loved having family and friends spend the summer with her. She loved her church and stayed active within that community throughout her life. She loved going to estate and rummage sales. Always on the hunt to find that special "Treasure."
She is survived by her children; daughter: Gloria Nelson, son: Mark (Heide) LaMacchia; grandchildren: Julie Kiley, Anthony (Margita) Nelson, and Eric LaMacchia, great grandchildren: Jenna, Hunter and Paige, sister
Patricia Scroggin, brother in law James Kiley and many many nieces and
nephews throughout the states.
In addition to her parents, Violet is preceeded in death by her sisters: Ruth Brown and Ellen Kiley, brothers: Sherel Bell and T.J. Bell, and grandson: Brad LaMacchia..
