COL. TIMOTHY J. HIMES (U.S.M.C. RET.)
Col. Timothy "Tim" Jay Himes, 70, of Odessa, Florida, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018, at his home surrounded by loved ones.
A private family interment will take place at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the family home from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. : In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marine Corps Scholarship Fund at www.mcsf.org in the honor of "Tim Himes."
Tim was born on October 19, 1947, in Canton, Ohio, the eldest of eight, to Merle and Dorothy (Larcena) Himes. He graduated from Canton South High School in 1965, Walsh College in 1969, Naval Postgraduate School in 1986, Navy War College in 1990. On February 14, 1970, he married the former Bonnie Mae McGee in Canton, Ohio. During his 27 years on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps, Col. Himes served numerous tours in Southwest Asia during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After retiring from the military, he worked as a senior level executive for multiple companies. In 2013, he retired as President and CEO from Geographic Solutions in Palm Harbor, Florida. He was an avid golfer and a member of the TPC Tampa Bay golf course. He spent most of his weekends on the golf course. He also enjoyed classic car shows, reading, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and dog, Skyla.
Tim is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Bonnie Himes; children Heather Harris, Jennifer Bovi, and Todd Himes; grandchildren Tabitha Himes, Zenen Himes, Lisa Bove, Zade Himes, and Zander Himes; and siblings Greg Himes, Scott Himes, Mike Himes, Bonita Himes Bennet, Patrick Himes, and Patricia Byington.
