Thomas Leo Vieira's Obituary
Thomas Leo Vieira, at the age of 92, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2024, in New Port Richey, FL surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 9, 1931, in Rochester, NY, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and commitment to his career.
A veteran of the Korean War, Thomas served with honor in the US Air Force. Following his military service he embarked on a fulfilling career with Eastman Kodak Company as the Director of Automatic Machine Systems, Design Division, where he contributed his talents for 33 years. A man of intellect and ambition, he was a proud alumnus of Penn State University, held a Master's Degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and was a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills.
Thomas was a man who cherished the simple pleasures in life. His love for golf and card games brought joy to him and those around him. These hobbies were more than pastimes; they were ways in which he connected with friends and family, sharing stories and creating memories.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 68 years, Sarah Vieira, and their sons, Raymond (Lisa), Thomas (Margaret), and Kenneth (Kirsten) Vieira. He was a cherished grandfather to Christina, Brittany (Ted), Kelly, Marianne (Sean), Maggie (Bryan), Thomas J. II, Katherine (Matthew), Mallory (Marshall), and Zachery. He was also a doting great-grandfather to Rebecca (Ben), Aidan, Austin, Jacob, Ava, Aubree, and Joseph. Thomas now reunites in eternal peace with his predeceased family members including his parents Tristao and Mary Vieira, his siblings Zara Tipton, Charles Vieira, Josephine Vieira, Delores (Frank) Mros, Mary (Gene) Cyran, Raymond Vieira, Lillian (John) Gatti, and his grandson Connor Vieira.
The Vieira family will lay Thomas to rest with a private service of internment at Sarasota National Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 19th, 2:00 - 4:00 pm, at Seven Springs Golf and Country Club, New Port Richey, Florida, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory. Although his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit continues to live on in the hearts he touched and the memories we share.
In remembrance of Thomas Leo Vieira, and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. These contributions will stand as a testament to Thomas's compassionate spirit and his enduring legacy of hope and charity.
