Thomas Reaves Jr.'s Obituary
Thomas E. Reaves Jr., formerly of Jackson and Madison, passed away May 14, in FL. Born May 31, 1939, in Greenville, MS, he lived most of his early years in Shelby, MS. A Sigma Nu at Ole Miss, he graduated with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, in 1961. He retired as Director of Nuclear Support for Entergy MS, after 33 years of service. He was a man of loyalty, integrity and commitment. Faith, friends and family were the most important facets of his life. He and his wife, Gayle, were members of Meadowbrook Church of Christ for 53 years, before moving to FL in 2015, to be near their children. He served as an elder at Meadowbrook Church for 12 years.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Lois Taylor Reaves of Shelby, and his sister, Lucie Reed of Belzoni, MS. He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Gayle Miller Reaves; son Thomas Reaves III of Port Richey, FL; daughter Tamara Bowers and husband Patrick; grandson, Philip Bowers; granddaughters, Leah Bowers and Greta Bowers of Land O’ Lakes, FL; brother-in-law, Gary Miller of Hazlehurst, MS; 3 nieces, Donna Reed, Madison; Lynn Taylor, Evergreen, CO; Michele Reed, Cleveland, MS; nephew Tag Reed, of Belzoni, MS.
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 27, 3:00 at N. Tampa Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, Tom had requested that memorials be made to Meadowbrook Church of Christ, Jackson, MS, or to N. Tampa Church of Christ Building Program, 3611 E. County Line Road., Lutz, FL 33559.
