Thomas M George's Obituary
Thomas George was born on October 10, 1955 to the late Abraham Mulamkunnil George and the late Saramma George in Ranni, Kerala, India. He was the third child in the family, with two older sisters and one younger brother.
Bro. Thomas, affectionately known as Raju, accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and obeyed the Lord in the waters of baptism at a young age. In 1983, he emigrated to the USA.
In 1987, Raju married Philsy Varghese in Philadelphia, PA. While there, Raju and Philsy were active members of the local assembly of believers in Philadelphia. In July 1991, they moved to Florida to join the saints at Believers’ Assembly of South Florida (BASF).
Raju served as an elder at BASF for many years until declining health prevented him. His spiritual gifts were always well used, including his gift of administration in serving the assembly and meeting the needs of the community of faith, both in the US and in India. He was known for his calm demeanor, his positive spirit and his friendly smile!
God has blessed Raju and Philsy with four children: Stephanie, Leslie, Britney and Joshua. Together, they raised their children in the fear of the Lord and pointed them to Christ.
Raju’s health deteriorated for the past nine years due to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). As his condition progressed, he moved to Tampa, Florida and fellowshipped with the saints at Land O’ Lakes Bible Chapel. Throughout the decline in his health, he enjoyed the faithful and sacrificial care of his wife. Despite his physical limitations, Raju still strived to be an involved father and grandfather. On Friday, February 7, 2025 at 11:30am, it pleased the Lord to call His servant home to glory with his loved ones by his side.
Raju will be dearly missed by his family and friends. As believers, we have the blessed hope to be reunited in glory.
Raju held a lifelong conviction of being generous in supporting the work of evangelists and missionaries, especially from his home country, India. To that end, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Gospel Missions of India (GMI).
