Anthony Fox
My Aunt Theresa lives in my earliest memories with a fond remembrance. As a lover of life, children, and all people in general, she had a keen delight in everything and everyone. This could be easily seen as she was always smiling. You knew she was especially pleased when she raised her arms in the air and loudly declared, “Praise the Lord!” Always doing so with firm conviction and a joyous spirit. She delighted us young children whether singing songs or telling wonderful Bible Stories; Daniel and the Lion, the Three Wise Men, Noah, Jesus as a Young Boy Lost and Found, to name a few. The most vivid memory she instilled in me, the one I am most grateful for is, John 3:16. I can still it recite today, word-for-word. It has served me well throughout the years and I thank her for that and all the fond memories she created. Aunt Theresa understood that memories are made of todays and that when those todays are long past what you are left with are the memories. Those were good days, and the memories are even better. She knew. Thank you again Aunt Theresa for all those good days; we will meet again.
Thus, life goes on, one generation to the next as is God and nature's way. Aunt Theresa was the last of her generation (the 1st). Her husband, brothers and sisters had all preceded her. They are all united again now, one in the arms of the Lord. I can hear her now, “Praise the Lord!”
The baton is now passed to the next (2nd) generation and, in turn, the 3rd. It now behooves all of us to ensure that the spirit instilled in us by Aunt Theresa and the 1st generation are passed on to the following generations as well. I know we will make them as proud of us as we are of them.
