Susan Trusina's Obituary
Susan “Sue” Trusina passed away on June 1st, 2024 at HCA Florida Trinity Hospital in Trinity, Florida. She was the widow of Joseph “Joe” Trusina. They shared 35 beautiful years of marriage together before he preceded her in death in 2021.
Sue, the loving daughter of Leroy and Mae Fojut, was born in Oak Park, Illinois. She graduated from Illinois State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. Later, Sue went on to earn a master’s degree which she used to teach English Literature for 34 years at Proviso West High School in Hillside, Illinois. She carried many fond memories of her students into her retirement that she loved to recount with her family and friends.
Sue and Joe split their time between Michigan and Florida after retiring from their careers in Illinois. During Michigan summers on Clear Lake, Sue enjoyed country life and its many charms such as a floating book club that rotated hosting on pontoon boats. During the rest of the year in Florida, Sue was active in Heritage Springs Community. She was a member of the Love Your Neighbor Connect group and a regular golfer with the Fun9ers golf ladies. Sue, along with Joe, enjoyed annual passes to Disney World and Busch Gardens. Sue cultivated a beautiful home and was an incredibly gracious and welcoming host who loved to entertain friends and family from the North.
Over the years, Sue became more and more involved in various bible studies and prayer groups both in the community and at Trinity Church of Christ. Sue had a remarkably deep and abiding faith in Jesus who was her best friend. As her health declined, she maintained optimism and often exclaimed, “The best is yet to be.” Sue would also tell you that there is a special place in heaven for golden retrievers especially “Buddy,” “Barney,” and “Harley,” her and Joe’s good boys.
Sue will be remembered for her glass half full mentality along with her overwhelming generosity.
Funeral arrangements will be provided at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Paws for Purple Hearts on Susan’s behalf. https://pawsforpurplehearts.org/donate/
