Sue Ann Smith Peterson's Obituary
Peterson, Sue Ann Smith 82, of Trinity, passed away on May 23, 2025. She is survived by
her children, Jeffrey Trautner, Jennifer Vermillion (Christopher), James Trautner (Rebecca);
grandchildren, Tyler, Jace, Jaylie, Bricen, and Caden; brothers, Ray Smith, and Mark Cain.
She was preceded in death by her husband Michael Peterson, her brother Lee Cain, and
her son-in-law, Christopher Vermillion. Sue was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on January 5,
1943, to Robert Russell Smith and Alice Elizabeth Smith. Sue graduated from East
Liverpool High School in 1961 in East Liverpool, Ohio. After which she attended and
graduated from the City Hospital Nurses Training School in East Liverpool, Ohio in June of
1964. Sue was awarded for “excellence in clinical practice of nursing” from District 3 of the
Ohio State Nurses Association. Sue then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in December of 1964
and served for four years as a registered nurse. Sue was honorably discharged in July of
1968 with a rank of Captain from the U.S. Air Force base hospital in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Sue continued to practice nursing in various ways until she retired in 2008. Sue was a
devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Sue enjoyed music, dancing, fun and laughter with
friends, and family. Sue had a strong faith and was a believer in God. Sue was very active in
bible studies and other church functions. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June
1, 2025, from 2 PM – 4 PM at Trinity Memorial Gardens 12609 Memorial Drive, Trinity, Florida
34655 in the Trinity Chapel. Family and friends are welcome
