Steven von Essen's Obituary
With immense sadness and shock we announce the sudden passing of Steve von Essen. Beloved husband of Lori. Doting father of Jessica. He is survived by his sister Cindy (Steve), sisters-in-law Nan (Steve) and Amy, and nieces and nephews Eli, Sara, Dana, Ryan and Jennifer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eileen and Carl von Essen, and his aunt and uncle, Mary and Peter von Essen.
Steve was incredibly loyal, generous, honest, funny, and hardworking. His dedication to his career was unmatched and characterized by great success. He cared deeply for those who worked for him and in turn was respected by all of his colleagues.
For the entirety of his life he was a lover of nature and the outdoors and in the last several years he enjoyed taking numerous road trips across the country and visiting national parks, both on his own and with his wife or daughter by his side.
He loved Lori and Jessica with all of his heart and felt deep pride in their accomplishments. He will be greatly missed by them and all those who loved him.
The family will be hosting a private celebration of life for immediate family and Steve’s closest friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Parks Conservation Association or the American Cancer Society.
