Stan and Phyllis Crosier were two amazing individuals that together formed one solid team. They both accepted me into their family when I was a teenage girl at the age of 17. In August of 1998, early into my relationship with their grandson, Stan and Phyllis took us to Bush Gardens for the day. The humidity and heat in the month of August that year was overwhelming and unbearable for most…but not for Stan and Phyllis Crosier!
I remember feeling as though I was going to pass out from the heat meanwhile they were in their glory showing us around the park and always ten steps ahead. I remember needing to rehydrate and find relief in air conditioning. Stan found us some cold water to drink and shade and within minutes, we were back on our feet walking through the park. At the time, they were in their early 70’s. I recall being impressed at how active they were and how remarkable that they could withstand the brutal heat and sun but they thrived in it as well as everything they did together. They were a team and a strong one at that. They were always fun, loving, and incredibly generous.
It’s been almost a decade now since I saw them together in person. I had visited with my daughters (two of their great grandchildren) for the day. We went to dinner and Stan insisted that he sit next to my oldest, Taylor. Together they were across the table from me. I remember saying out loud “So that’s where she gets them from. She has your eyes and cheek's Stan”….the smile was from ear to ear with pride on both him and my daughter. The love in his eyes could melt anyones heart.
I was saddened to hear of Phyllis passing before I could say goodbye, but I did get the opportunity to video chat with Stan around this time last year while Taylor and her aunt Ivy flew down to FL to spend time with him and his son, Dave. During this visit, Taylor video called me and said that Stan wanted to see me on the video call. It melted my heart that he clearly remembered me and the trip to Bush Gardens. He was a true gentleman and loving parent, grandparent, great grandparent, and great-great grandparent. I will always carry a special place in my heart for both Stanley and Phyllis Crosier. Both will truly be missed; never to be forgotten…I know they will be looking over their great-great grandson, Griffin. Thank you for all of the wonderful memories you’ve left me with so I can share with our next round of generations. Your legacy will never be forgotten!
Semper Fidelis, Devil Dog and God bless you.
