Sharon Robinson's Obituary
Sharon Colleen Robinson, 93, of Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025.
Sharon was born August 15, 1931, and raised in New Albion, NY, to parents Arthur and Dorothy Barker. She grew up with a strong sense of family and resilience, traits that would define her throughout her life. After graduating from Cattaraugus High School, she pursued her passion for nursing, enrolling in the Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing in 1949. In 1952, she graduated as a Diploma Registered Nurse, embarking on a career of service, compassion, and dedication to others.
In 1959, Sharon and her first husband, David Barber, packed up their young family and moved to Florida, seeking new opportunities and adventure. As a mother, she was unwavering in her love and support, instilling in her children the values of hard work, faith, and the importance of family.
Her professional career as a nurse spanned 39 years, touching the lives of countless patients and colleagues. Perhaps most notably, she led the labor and delivery unit at Waterman Memorial Hospital in Eustis, FL, bringing new life into the world with skill and care. From 1965 to 1991, she was a trusted and highly respected nurse at North Bay Medical Center in Eustis, working under the esteemed doctors Tom Langley, Neal Robinson, and Austin Riegel. Sharon’s passion for nursing was more than a job—it was a calling, and her kindness and expertise left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Even in retirement, Sharon’s energy and zest for life never wavered. She and her beloved husband, Warren Robinson, spent years traveling the country, making memories, and visiting loved ones. She was deeply involved in the women’s ministry at her local church, always lending a helping hand and offering words of wisdom. Sharon believed in the power of faith, kindness, and community, and she lived those values every single day.
Above all, family was Sharon’s greatest joy. Whether hosting holiday gatherings, planning reunions, or simply picking up the phone to check in, she was the glue that held her loved ones together. Her presence was a source of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She took immense pride in her role as the matriarch of her large and growing family, cherishing every moment with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Sharon wrote hundreds of personal birthday cards to each loved one over the years; and was the most “tech savvy” 93-year-old on earth mastering the art of perfect emojis for each message.
Sharon’s grandchildren lovingly describe “Grammie” as loving, passionate, purposeful, encouraging, a friend, funny, graceful, a difference-maker, tough as nails, smart, and an amazing cook (she could make Spam taste good). She had a way of making everyone feel special, and her home was always filled with love, delicious meals, and stories of the past.
She is survived by her devoted sister, Audrey Burroughs of East Otto, NY; her children, Timothy (Diane), Christopher (Candace), Peter, and Daniel (Angela); 15 cherished grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her former spouse, David Barber; her husband, Warren Robinson; her siblings, Roger and Juanita; and her beloved daughter, Pamela.
Sharon was also well loved in life by her former daughters and son-in-laws Karen Knight, Lisa Herd, Andria Barber and Matthew Shaw (widower of Pamela).
