Sharon Evans, 71, of Wesley Chapel, passed away on April 20, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Sharon was born in Laindon, Essex, UK to Fred and Phyllis Keeble on January 6, 1953, the fourth child of six, with four brothers and one sister. She graduated high school in 1968. She remained in Essex, close to her family for much of her adult life. She married her great love, her husband Lewis, and the two started a family together with their son Mark and two daughters Vicki and Lucy.
Sharon was a hard worker who held a variety of different jobs during her life, including a bakery as a doughnut filler, a hairdresser’s shop, a butcher’s shop, and a fish and chips shop. She ultimately began a career in banking with Citi, working her way through the ranks to a Vice President position. It was at Citi that she found her true calling, using her natural problem-solving and interpersonal skills to manage specialized programs assisting with the development of struggling branches and building relationships with other banks in countries without Citi branches. Her career with Citi also brought her to the United States, when she relocated to Florida in 1997 with her husband and daughter Lucy, then 16 years of age. She remained at Citi in Florida until 2024.
Sharon was a very family-oriented person who enjoyed nothing more than time with her loved ones and her beloved dogs. When she was a child, she loved their family holidays in Jaywick, and she continued this tradition as her family grew. After the move to Florida, she and Lewis took many trips to the casino with their dear friends over the years. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, both in the US and the UK, and she was especially close with her sister Gilly after the passing of Gilly’s husband, though the two never managed to master answering a video call correctly.
Sharon will be remembered by all who knew her for her love of vodka and Ted’s special martinis, for celebrating any special occasion by sharing a glass of champagne with Lucy, and for her unique fashion sense. Never seen without her jewelry and her makeup and nails done, she took special care to coordinate her outfits with her shoes, especially her favorite Ugg boots. She will be remembered by her grandchildren for her magic drawer full of English chocolate. Most of all, she will be remembered for her sense of humour, kindness to her friends and family, and love for her “Big Darling” Lewis, who spent every second by her side throughout both her illness and their entire lives together.
Sharon is survived by her husband Lewis; her children Mark, Vicki, and Lucy; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her three brothers and sister; and her beloved dog Brynn. She was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Phyllis and her dogs Teddy, Joe, and Gus.
