Salvatore Lombardo, age 85, born 11th of February 1940, an Italian in the then Italian colony of Benghazi, Libya, died 28th of May 2025 in his home in Trinity, Florida, surrounded by his loving surviving wife and care provider Giuseppa, and three sons: Giuseppe, Mario, and Daniele. He died of compounding complications emerging from a recent hip fracture surgery and Alzheimer’s disease. The wake and viewing is from 04:00 - 07:00PM on Friday, 6th of June 2025. He will be buried 7th of June 2025 at Trinity Memorial Gardens, following an 11:00AM mass and subsequent procession from St. Ignatius of Antioch Roman Catholic Church for a Catholic service. He is further survived by his elder brother Anthony, his younger brother Igino, and his youngest sibling sister Rosetta Iocolano. His predeceased is his father Giuseppe Lombardo and mother Pietrina Lombardo (née Alfano). He emigrated from Canicattini Bagni, Sicily, to the United States in 1957 under an extended refugee family program for WWII subjects. In his early adulthood, he worked as a barber and also was a multi-talented musician, playing clarinet and tenor saxophone as well as other musical instruments in the band Cosmos during the very early 1970's. His latter full-time occupations were in industrial electronics assembly with major corporations Ortho Diagnostics (former subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson) as well as MPM Corporation (later Speedline Technologies, Inc. an Illinois Tool Works Inc. company).
Salvatore loved all people from all walks of life, made even cold strangers laugh and warm up to him. He enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren, tinkering, building, and fixing things in the garage, watching black and white films, and helping those in need, even those he did not know.
