Sally L. Hudson's Obituary
Sally Lynn Hudson
11/13/1949 – 11/06/2022
On, Sunday, November 6th following years of declining health, Sally was received into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. Sally was a born leader, and her daughter, family and friends were her greatest joy. She lived the majority of her life in Tampa, Florida where she served her Church and her Community faithfully and lived life to the fullest as an avid follower of Christ.
Sally was the second child of Rhea Willard Hudson and Margaret Deskins Hudson. She was born on November 13, 1949 and grew up in Natrona Heights, Pennsylvania. Sally graduated from HarBrack High School in 1967 and went on to study at Liberty State College. Sally graduated in 1970 from West Liberty State College with an Associate of Science Degree in Dental Hygiene and moved to Florida to begin her career as a Dental Hygienist.
Shortly after her move to Florida, Sally met Jeffrey Bogue, and they were married on December 23rd, 1976. They lived in Tampa and in 1984 they grew their family to include their beloved daughter Erin.
In later years, Sally went back to school and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Adult Vocational Education from the University of South Florida in 1981 which served her well as she
began a new venture by starting her own Electrolysis Business “Hair Today Gone Tomorrow” which was very successful. She then created and opened the Tampa Bay Career Academy to train others in electrolysis. Sally authored all the academic materials and was the Instructor as well as the Director for the Academy.
In October 2008 Sally was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation which is a rare neck condition that required surgery. Following the surgery, Sally had severe neck pain and was unable to work. She decided during that time to attend online classes at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated in 2010 with a Master’s Degree in Christian Studies.
Sally was a devoted Christian and active member of Idlewild Baptist Church since 1999. She helped in the Special Needs Ministry, taught English as a 2nd Language, and attended Bible Fellowship weekly. By 2009, Sally had gone on several mission trips to help spread the gospel across the globe – Honduras, China and Argentina. She traveled 3 times to New Delhi India to teach vacation bible school to hundreds of children. She sang in the church choir and opened her home to teach bible study. Sally also volunteered at Florida Hospital of Wesley Chapel in their Therapy Dog Program with her beloved Schnauzer Zoe following Zoe’s graduation from Canines for Christ Therapy Dogs.
Sally was very intelligent, creative and artistic. She enjoyed traveling, scrapbooking, taking pictures and playing Scrabble. One of her greatest joys was inviting friends to her annual Christmas party the 1st Saturday in December, where the antics of picking “re-gifts” and stealing others’ gifts played out with hilarious success. One lucky guest would be crowned Chili Pepper Queen and had to promise to return the 3-foot pepper to next year’s party after her reign.
In the Spring of 2020 Sally was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia and had been in declining health since 2017. Sally was predeceased by her parents Rhea and Margaret Hudson, and her sister with whom she shared a special bond, Carole Hudson Arthur. She is survived by her former husband, Jeffrey Bogue and their daughter Erin, her beloved grandchildren Asher and Zea Bogue, her nieces Susan Carter (Danny), Jane Mochrie (Steve), Amy Tew and her nephew Glenn Arthur (Tania) and their families, as well as dear friends Lorrie MacDonald, Linda Nelson, Maddy Woodward, Rory Eubank and her beloved Schnauzer Zoe.
A Memorial Service will be held at Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, Florida on Friday, November 18th. Visitation with the family begins at 10:00 a.m. and the Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital per Sally’s wishes.
