Roy Everett Carlson's Obituary
Roy Everett Carlson, age 87, of Odessa, Florida died peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2018 at his residence. Roy was a long-term resident of both Troy, Ohio and Findlay, Ohio. He was born February 20, 1931 in East Providence, Rhode Island to the late Ewald and Hilda (Johnson) Carlson. He was married to his spouse, Mary Suzanne “Sue” Carlson for 54 years and she preceded him in death.
Roy is survived by his four children and their spouses: Kathryn Carlson of Salem, Oregon, Kristine (Robert) of Findlay, Ohio, Richard (Jennifer) Carlson of Odessa, Florida and James Carlson of Cary, North Carolina; and six grandchildren: Lindsey and Nicholas Bowden, and Andrew, Madison, Robert, and Kate Carlson. He was a graduate of Western Michigan University earning a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in political science. He started his career as a high school social studies teacher but worked primarily as a Chamber of Commerce Executive in Marshall, MI, Findlay, OH, and Troy, OH. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Troy. He actively participated with the Findlay Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and Scottish Rite. He was a proud veteran serving in the Navy from 1950-1954.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00AM on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church in Troy, OH. The service will take place immediately afterwards. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Troy.
