Ronald Marousek's Obituary
Ronald Marousek “Ron,” 74, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully after an extended illness on May 28th at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 9,1950 in Illinois. Ron was raised by his loving parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Marousek.
Ron grew up in the Berwyn neighborhood, a suburb of Chicago. He had many friends that he stayed connected with as far back as kindergarten. Ron attended and graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School, class of 1968. Ron took several college courses after high school. He also earned many prestigious mechanical and technology certifications.
Ron was a very loyal family man. He was married to Sharon for 30 years with their two sons. After her passing he was able to find love once again with his Florida neighbor, Marilyn. Marilyn and Ron were married on October 14, 2012. They explored the world together visiting family and friends, cruised often, and took several cross-country trips. Ron’s other loves were his 1965 442 Olds, 2004 Chevy Corvette,1956 Chevy Sedan Delivery, and his beloved parakeet Peeper.
Ron truly loved his brothers and sisters dearly, Eileen, Rick, and Lisa. He was so close to them, they spoke daily. He loved and cared about each of them, and genuinely enjoyed every conversation and time shared together.
Ron was a mechanical genius. His skills ranged from tinkering with lawn equipment as a child to an expert mechanic not only of vehicles and heavy equipment, but then onto medical equipment. Ron regularly traveled throughout the country for his work. Ron was notorious for his office antics with dear friends Pete and Chuck at Komatsu.
During Ron’s lengthy illness, many came to help. Becky, Mark, Geri, Lourdes, Kayley, Dane, Eberts, and Jim were angels. Father Rick of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, and Chaplain Paul of VITAS were a blessing to the family.
Ron is survived by his wife, Marilyn Marousek of Cape Coral, FL; his mother-in-law Ruth Ann Ohlsen (SC); his children Dane Zwettler (IL); Arthur Zwettler (IL); Becky Jenkins (FL); Kimberly & Andre West (PA); his siblings Eileen Drabik (IL); Rick Theodore (IL); and Lisa Veltri (IL); Brother-in-Law to Terri Theodore (IL), Gene Veltri (IL), JoAnne Randall (AR); Denise Robinson (NC), Nancy & Mike Keohane (CO); Sandra & Les Flynn (NC), Chris Shallow (FL); Kelly & Shannon High (SC), Kim & Anthony Colvard (SC); and their children; Grandfather to Kayley Noss (FL); Tarik Whipple (PA); Devan & Ashlyn Jenkins (PA); Christian Marketta (FL); Joshua Marketta (Army); Nolan Marketta (FL); and Gavin Marketta (FL); and his great grandchildren Braxton Jenkins (PA); Nataliya Jenkins (PA); and Lyric Vetterly (FL).
Ron was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Mike Ohlsen, mother-in-law, Marjorie Hertzog Gauby; father-in-law Ernest Gauby; brother-in-law, Joseph Robinson; brother-in-law Wally Drabik; and granddaughter Liana Rose Marketta.
Ron was a very spiritual man; his faith was always his guiding light. Ron was the type of person that once you met him, you would never forget him. He was a master of rhetorical wit. He filled the room with life. Ron was the love of Marilyn’s life; he was a wonderful loving husband; it was a true love story that ended too soon. Ron’s warmth, kindness and dedication to his family will be deeply missed. He leaves behind a legacy of love and joy.
