Richard Domino's Obituary
Richard James Domino of St Petersburg, Florida died peacefully in his sleep on May 30, 2023. Rich was born on May 24, 1948 in Passaic, New Jersey before leaving to play college football in Minnesota. After college, he moved back to New Jersey, worked for Haggar Clothing Co, coached peewee football and met the love of his life. Rich married Arlene Rovito in 1977.
They moved to Butler, NJ, where they had Tracie and Alison before moving to Wayne, NJ, where they would spend their next 10 years. Rich joined Tropical Sportswear Int’l in 1987 and worked in the Empire State Building until becoming President of the company in 1995, which brought his family to Tampa, Florida. In 2003, after a two week trial retirement and realizing that playing golf everyday gave him a sore shoulder, he returned to work leading the menswear division for Fishman Tobin Inc.
He was an amazing father who could be found on the sidelines of any soccer game or gymnastics tournament cheering on his girls, always put his family first, and modeled faith and service to everyone around him.
He loved the Yankees, the NY Giants, and in the last 25 years, the Florida State Seminoles. He loved every minute he spent with his buddies on a golf course and everyone knew the day he played Augusta National was one of the best of his life. He traveled the world, but was happiest at home.
After the birth of their granddaughter, Rich and Arlene moved to St. Petersburg. He adored being a grandfather (Pop) and played a key role in teaching Alice (5) about baseball and being competitive at board games.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Arlene, his daughters Tracie and Alison, his granddaughter Alice and grand-dog Frankie, his cousins who were like siblings to him Len Domino (Barbara) and Grace Pavlica (Russ), his sister-in-law Victoria Tosto, her daughters Dana Tosto and Jaclyn Hernandez (Joshua) and many, many more family members and friends. He is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mae Domino (Scancarella), his brothers Paul (Marion) and Joe, and cousin Paul Domino, and brother-in-law John Tosto.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 16th at St Timothy Catholic Church in Lutz beginning at 10am followed by a funeral mass at 11am. He specifically asked for guests not to wear black. Donations in his honor can be made to the St John Vianney Catholic Church Youth Group, 445 82nd Avenue; St. Pete Beach, FL 33706.
