Rameshwar Srivastava's Obituary
Rameshwar Srivastava, 83, of Wesley Chapel, Florida, passed away on July 20, 2024. He was born on April 5, 1941 in Varanasi, India to Shambhu Dayal and Hingoo Devi, one of 11 siblings. He graduated from Benaras Hindu University and received his PhD at Dalhousie University, followed by post-doctoral studies at the University of Toronto. He met his wife Urvashi Srivastava, and the couple were married in Lucknow, India. He was a wonderful father to his two sons, Rajeev and Sanjeev.
Rameshwar was well-traveled, and he lived in India, Europe, and Canada before settling in the United States, where he spent most of his life. He was a decorated chemical engineer and was formally recognized at the age of 78 by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers for his contributions to the field. He also left his mark on several institutions including jet propulsion laboratories at CalTech University, the University of Delaware, IIT Kanpur, and the US Department of Energy. While at IIT Kanpur, Rameshwar was selected from among his colleagues and peers all over India to receive the prestigious annual Herdillia Award. The Herdillia Award is considered the highest honor for chemical engineering in India, and it was presented to him by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi herself.
Rameshwar was an incredibly disciplined and resilient man. As the first member of his family to travel to the west, he was a trailblazer for his family, whom he loved dearly. He was devoted to his spouse, children, and especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed swimming and following world markets and was a wine connoisseur and an avid bridge player.
He is survived by his wife Urvashi; his sons Rajeev (Deepika) and Sanjeev (Parizad); and his grandchildren Sanath, Samir, Kiran, Jasmine, and Kesari.
