Ralph Bowman 's Obituary
Bowman, Ralph passed away May 29th, 2019. He was 91. Ralph was born in Pontiac, Michigan and commencing at an early age, participated and enjoyed the competition that sports life had to offer. He attended Cooley High School in Detroit, Michigan and was "All City" in both football as a running back and track as a sprinter and hurdler, plus Detroit "Hall of Fame" in 1945. Ralph entered the service after high school and during the early occupation of Japan, pitched and played second base one the 1946 fast pitch softball championship team of Tokyo. He was discharged in 1947 and went to work for Chevrolet Central Office in Detroit. Ralph was recalled to the service during the Korean war and served from October 1950 to October 1953. He was a Lieutenant, Platoon Leader, Paratrooper and Trial Council.
Ralph and his wife, Shirley, were married for over 60 years. They moved to Florida as full time residents in 1985. They resided in Forest Lakes in Oldsmar. Ralph was past President of the Homeowners Association and wrote and published the local news letter. The next 10 years, Ralph and Shirley lived in Crescent Oaks, Tarpon Springs and were founding members of the Crescent Oaks Golf and Country Club. Ralph, who was an avid golfer, served on the club Board of Governors for five years and was President of the Mens Golf Association for two years. Ralph and Shirley have resided in the Heritage Springs Golf and Country Club community since 2001.
Ralph is survived by his daughter, Lisa; husband Richard (Butch), Grandson, G. Jon Bodin, IV , and son Gregory; wife WendyJo.
Services to be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens on June 8th, 2019. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcome to the following organizations.
