Phyllis Combs' Obituary
Phyllis Lynn Combs, 67, of New Port Richey, Florida, went Home to Jesus on May 16, 2024 in Trinity. A beloved mom, mimi, sister, and friend, she was born in Morristown, Indiana to Walter P. and Clara J. Kilgore on July 18, 1956. On July 27, 1985 she married Harry Combs. She was a graduate of Johnson Bible College. She worked as a Legal Assistant for Kass Shuler Law Firm for 42 years having recently retired. “Philly” as she was often called had a love of Jesus, family, and sports. Her favorite role was that of Mimi to her grandkids whom she loved so much! She was a diehard fan of the Indiana Hoosiers and Tampa Bay Rays. Phyllis was also very involved in girls softball where she was commonly referred to as “Coach Phyllis” by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry A. Combs, three grandchildren, her parents Walter P. Kilgore and Clara J. Kilgore, and a stillborn sibling. Phyllis is survived by her children, Caleb (Stephanie) Combs of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Kelsey (Kenny) Glesenkamp of New Port Richey, Florida, two grandchildren Emersyn Glesenkamp and Josie Glesenkamp, brothers Kerry Kilgore of New Palestine, Indiana and Charles Kilgore (Terri) of New Palestine, cousin Debbie Barrie of New Palestine, and 4 nieces Jessica (Joe) Canter, Brittany (Ian) Nickerson, Caitlin (Michael) Specht, and Brianna Kilgore. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Terry Combs.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, June 1, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity New Life Church in Odessa, Florida. Guests attending are asked to wear their favorite sports team apparel and/or dress casual per Philly’s request!
