Philip Bernie Jr.'s Obituary
Philip Bernie Jr., 51, passed away suddenly on August 22, 2021. Phil was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 8, 1970. The family relocated to Staten Island, NY where he spent most of his teen years until entering college.
Phil graduated from Tottenville High School in 1988 where he played the line on the football team. He continued his education and earned a Bachelor’s degree from State University of New York at Buffalo (UB). After spending three years in Buffalo following graduation, he relocated to Tampa.
Phil was a dedicated and devoted father to his children Philip III and Christian James (CJ) Bernie. He treasured his sons as his life’s priority and embraced every moment with them.
He is survived by his two sons, their mother Nina Merz, his adoring girlfriend Christina Carroll, his loving brother Craig, sister-in-law Ana, two wonderful nieces Liabella and Kiara, loving parents Karyn and Phil Sr. and Pepe (his cat buddy of 13 years).
Throughout his life he always kept a good sense of humor and engaged in many funny antics for which he will be remembered. Phil will be sorely missed by all the many people that he touched throughout his life and all those who loved him.
Dear Philip,
We are nearing the first anniversary since Our Lord summoned you home. He took you suddenly and unexpectedly and without notice for us to say goodbye.
We think about you every day: your smile, your voice, your sense of humor, and we miss you greatly.
The boys are doing good. Nina is doing a terrific job raising them. Your brother speaks of you all the time. He and his family miss you very much.
We never really had the chance to say it often, but will say it now. We love you and will always miss you until the day we join you in Heaven.
With all our love,
Mom and Dad
