Patricia Dwyer's Obituary
Dwyer, Patricia Ann Carozza 86, passed away on March 8, 2023. She was born on St. Patrick’s Day in Elmira, New York, the daughter of Joseph and Carmel (Lagonegro) Carozza. She graduated from Elmira College in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Religion, Art and English. After graduating from college she worked for years at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service with a break to raise her four children. She later rejoined the organization and specialized in overseas adoptions. She loved her daily glass of red wine at dinner, reading, conquering the New York Times crossword puzzle and traveling overseas with her husband.
She is survived by her children, Chris (Patty Carey) of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Liz Dwyer Diecidue (Tom) of Lutz and Brendan (Margaret) of Tampa. She was also a loving “Grammy” to her six grandchildren; Andrew, Thomas, Audrey, Nicholas, Ivan and Ellie. She is also survived by her brother Julius Carozza (Kathleen) of Horseheads, NY, sisters-in-law Nancy Doraiswami (Subbiah) of Belmont, MA, Hara Dwyer of Barre, VT and Marilyn Dwyer of Wheaton, IL and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, brother Daniel Carozza, sister Catherine Carozza Barclay, husband Robert Dwyer and son Matthias Dwyer. A funeral mass is planned for Thursday, March 16, 2023 at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Lutz at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to LifePath Hospice (Garnett team) and the staff at Arden Courts in Tampa, especially the wonderful aides in Harvest Glen, for the love, care and support that was given to her. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmelite Monastery at 11 W.
