For me… It will always be curly fries and cherry cola that remind me of my Grandma Mona. In my childhood, there were many weekends spent in the company of family and friends down on the beach, but it was going to be an “occasion” if Grandma Mona and Grandpa Godfrey were in attendance.
I remember knowing good and well that if Grandma Mona was coming down, that “Jordy Boy” was gonna get spoiled, and spoiled I was! In the afterglow of reminiscence, I can no longer pick out singular moments or exchanges… but I remember watching my grandparents dance, laugh and sing late into the night, and I could always count on my sweet grandma Mona, to slip me a 5 dollar bill with a wink and a kiss on the forehead.
I would run to the bar and ask for just one more basket of curly fries and a cup of cherry cola… and in my memories we’re still down on the beach, watching my Father play… Dancing, laughing and singing late into the night. Love you Grandma… I have and shall continue to miss you dearly…
Sincerely,
Jordy Boy
