Michael Joseph Zanga Jr's Obituary
The world became a lot dimmer on September 25, 2025, as the brilliant husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend was taken from us. Born on September 28, 1941, Michael Joseph Zanga Jr lived his 84 years with an energy that was nothing short of extraordinary.
Mike’s passion for life was evident from an early age, particularly at the neighborhood school’s backyard basketball court in New York. A fierce competitor, he claimed trophies and a few top all-around wins, proving that his determination was strong.
After high-school, Mike set his sights on new pursuits and dreams. He joined the army and soon after pursued a career in finance, finding his calling at CBS. His interpersonal skills, sharp intellect, unwavering dedication, and work ethic earned him the admiration of his colleagues, turning some of them into lifelong friends.
Alongside his successful jobs and career, Mike was able to retire at age 59. If you asked Mike what his greatest accomplishments were, it was not the jobs or positions; it was his three beautiful sons, Michael III, Andrew & Lucas, and his lovely wife, Heleomar. They were the center of his universe. Mike’s legacy of love, kindness, and resilience lives on through them.
Mike had a gift for making everyone feel special. Whether it was a friend or a family member, he could brighten anyone’s day with his amazing personality and infectious sense of humor. He loved with his whole heart, and he made sure that you felt it in every interaction. His hugs were big and warm, his presence was inviting, and being loved by him is something we will always cherish and never forget.
His faith was strong. His commitment to serve Jesus was evidenced by the amount of volunteer work he offered to the Saint Peter the Apostle Church and the Knights of Columbus for over 20 years.
A celebration of Mike’s life and viewing will be held on Thursday, 10/02/2025, at Trinity Memorial Funeral Home from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Following the Celebration of Life, a funeral mass will be held at 1:30 pm at the St. Peter Apostle Catholic Church.
The graveside service will take place at Bushnell National Cemetery on Friday, 10/03/2025, at 1:30 pm.
