I’m so sad. I will always remember Mike as a great co-worker, friend and mentor. He was instrumental in getting the NYL AARP business off the ground many years ago, and those who knew and worked with him will remember him fondly.
Mike was one of the friendliest and greatest people that I have ever had the privilege to know. Mike was ever optimistic, kind, and reasonable in all things, always inspiring trust and hope for great or good things to be accomplished from any initial set of circumstances. It was an honor to work for Mike at New York Life.

When I reflect on what made New York Life such a great place to work, I think of Mike Testa. Whenever I had a tricky problem to solve, I often shared it first with Mike. He always listened with open ears and an open mind, and I could see the wheels in his brilliant mind turning right away. Because Mike wanted all of us to be successful, he was stealth in using these sticky problem-solving opportunities to engage people across the organization in the profoundly exciting process of building new things. He always brought a solution (or two, or three or four), but more importantly, he brought people together and made sure everyone knew they were a valuable part of the innovation process. Mike led by example and he was bright, fun, imaginative, dependable, hard working, nice, honest, accountable, selfless and energetic. He loved his family so very much, and I am deeply sorry that you all lost him too soon. He was a bright light to all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and I will always feel blessed to have him as a colleague and friend.

My husband and myself worked with Mike at the home office. He was truly a gentleman and kind soul. Our deepest condolences to the family and comforting prayers knowing he will soar with the angels. Pete & Janice Bosco
This was so sudden.
This is so sad.
This stinks.
Mike was a great guy.
Mike was a great co-worker.
Mike was a great father.
Mike was a great husband.
Mike was a great golfer, er, how about
Mike was a great golf mate.
We will miss him.
I will miss him.
Bye bye.
This stinks.
Mike, I loved you like the brother I never had. I struggle with the reality that you are no longer with us. Your generosity helping me through a difficult time remains fresh in my mind 10 years later. We had so many great times at work solving problems, on the golf course laughing at each others foibles and at breakfast trying to figure out how to make the world a better place. I am a better person having known you. You were a selfless leader who taught by example, never looking for glory but lifting up those around you. A real man’s man with a gentle touch. I’ll never forget you Brother and keep a place for me in your foursome in Heaven.
A man with a plan.
Knew what he wanted and how to make it happen.
Carefree because he carefully planned.
Wiser than his years but eternally young.
The twinkle in his eyes.
The optimist.
Forever mischievous.
Everyone in the New York NYL office knew Mike. The grin. The advice. The strategizing. The laughter. The unequivocal love for his family. A friend for life.
The loss is as profound as Mike was. Until we meet again. I know he will save a seat for us at the table.

Lucky Atlantic City, NJ casino chip from trip with Mike. He said “Save it. You never know when we’ll be back.” I had no choice. His optimism was contagious!
Dear Testa Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Mike. As I am sure you know he was a terrific, smart, caring, positive and fun person.
Mike had a great impact on everyone’s path that he crossed. I was lucky to have Mike as a Manager early in my New York Life Career (late 80s- New York Life Home Office). I have so much to thank him for. He mentored and encouraged me to go beyond my goals. I was just telling my own children the other day words of advice that Mike told me. “To get ahead you have to show how you can add value to the company”. In addition to being a wonderful leader and manager, Mike was also a friend and you knew he really cared. He was a very innovative and dedicated employee, but he also knew how to create fun in the workplace.
Mike made a difference in so many of his coworkers lives. I am only one of many that are grateful to have known and worked for him.
He will be missed.
So very saddened to hear this news- Mike was one of the best - all around- coworker- friend- and golf partner- for those silly Westshore Alliance golf tournaments- he was kind- honest- caring- calming- always providing great fatherly advice and mentoring. He leaves an impression- that stays with you forever- Happy hole in ones- to you Mike- as you now play on the greenest of greens!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
