Michael Lamont Campenella's Obituary
Michael Lamont Campenella, 75, of Trinity, Florida, passed away on May 11, 2025. Born on January 31, 1950, in Boston, Massachusetts, Michael lived a vibrant life filled with music, meaning, and unmatched humor.
A graduate of Westwood High School, he continued his education at Boston State College. Michael built a career as a telecommunications technician, where his coworkers became lifelong friends.
He was a devoted husband to Cynthia Campenella and an endlessly loving father to his daughter, Lottie Campenella (Eric Swanson). Michael adored his grandchildren—Kenneth Campenella Hayes, Justin Campenella Obregon, Grace Alexandria Swanson, Erica Faith Swanson, and Carol Ann Hope Swanson.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Mark Campenella and Elizabeth A. Campenella (Simpson), and his older brother, Joseph Mark Campenella.
Michael was a true child of his era—he marched against the Vietnam War in Washington, D.C., and danced through the mud at Woodstock in 1969. He had a heart for justice, a soul fueled by music, and an unwavering love for all Boston sports. He coached softball, enjoyed golf and was a proud founding member of Ozone Patrole. Michael also supported several animal sanctuaries and gave generously to causes he believed in, including World Central Kitchen and the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Mike had a way of keeping you grounded while still making life feel anything but ordinary. He encouraged those around him to speak up for what’s right, find humor in the everyday, and love with their whole heart.
A Memorial Mass is scheduled for August 9, 2025, at 11:00am at Saint Mary's of the Assumption, 420 High Street in Dedham, Massachusetts, with graveside services immediately following at Brookdale Cemetery, 86 Brookdale Avenue in Dedham, MA.
