Melida Pereira's Obituary
Pereira, Melida Rosa, 90, of Odessa, FL, was born on April 13,1927 in Tampa, FL to Eusebio and Georgina Coto. She passed away peacefully Thursday, March 8, 2018.
Melida married the love of her life, Adalberto Pereira, on January 18, 1941. Together they started a family upon Adalberto’s return from WWII. They jointly supported numerous charities including Child Evangelism and the Children’s Home of Tampa Bay. Melida had a special place in her heart for children and spent many years teaching. Because of this love for children and teaching she earned a degree (with honors) in education from the University of South Florida in 1977. Another of Melida's great passions was to sing. Music permiated throughout her life and she had no greater joy than to sing her Savior's praises.
Melida was preceded in death by her husband, grandparents, parents, and brother Davis Coto. She is survived by her bother Roy (Alicia) of San Francisco, CA; children: Melida (Glenn) of Glencarbon, IL; Adalberto Jr. (Sandra) of Tampa; Kenneth (Terri) of Safety Harbor; daughter, Susan of Lutz; 9 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Hillsdale Baptist Church, located at 6201 Ehrlich Road Tampa, FL 33625, on Tuesday, March 13, with visitation at 10:00 AM with the family, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 14.
