Maurice Weitekamp's Obituary
Maurice E. Weitekamp entered into Eternal Life on October 25, 2019 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Bernice Weitekamp and dear father of Dr. Gary (Kathy) Weitekamp, LtCol Daniel (Evie) Weitekamp, Maurie (Mary Hockwalt) Weitekamp Jr., and Kimberly (George) Carlis. Maurice is survived by 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 8 siblings and daughter-in-law Jackie, wife of Daniel.
Maurice was born in Raymond Illinois on 9/16/25. He attended Purdue University on a Naval Scholarship and served as a Naval Aviation Cadet and Aviation Electrician’s Mate. Returning to Purdue after the end of WWII, he graduated as an Electrical Engineer in 1948 and began his career at Louis Allis Co. in Milwaukee designing electrical motors.
He married Bernice on July 8, 1950 and they moved to Atlanta where he became the youngest District Manager in company history at the age of 25. By the time he retired in 1981, Maurice was the National Director of Field Sales and Distribution and remained active in sales, business consulting and real estate investing long after retirement.
Maurie was extremely active throughout his years. He served as an Officer and Director of Purdue Alumni, President of Southeastern Traveliers and The Partners (Investors), Chairman of IEE Textile Committee and Sales Managers Workshop Committee (Sales and Marketing Executives). He served on the Board of Directors for Sales and Marketing Executives Club, Patricia Stevens Career College and the Advisory Board for Castle View Town and Country Club. Additionally he was a member of International Electrical Engineers, Engineering Society of Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Curling Club, Ozaukee Country Club, Milwaukee Athletic and Elks Clubs and the Knights of Columbus.
Above all, Maurie loved his family and always found time for memorable adventures. He enjoyed boating, hunting, golfing, curling, and spending countless hours fishing with grandchildren. Most cherished was his time with Bea, traveling extensively and living in both Milwaukee and Siesta Key where they met many wonderful life long friends. Everyone loved Maurice and his kindness, generosity, sense of humor and outgoing personality will always be remembered and deeply missed.
