Dr. Mary Coros' Obituary
Dr. Mary Coros, 86, of Trinity, Florida, passed away on March 26, 2025. She was born on May 29, 1938, in Caretta, West Virginia, to Spiro and Kula Coros (Kouromehelaki). After her graduation from St. Clairsville High School in Ohio, she entered training to become a reservation agent for United Airlines. After ten years, her need and desire to attend college compelled her to move to California and attend UCLA, where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Performing Arts. She then continued her education at the University of Toronto, where she pursued a doctorate degree in the subject area she was most passionate about – Cretan culture, music, and especially dance. She taught Cretan dancing for many years to several dance groups all throughout the country and became renowned throughout the Cretan community both in the United States and Canada. She eventually moved to Florida to be with her mother Kula.
Mary is survived by her sister Elizabeth Clark; nephew Stephen C. Clark; nieces Angela and Karen Clark; great-nephew Justin Clark (Blair); and great-nieces Danielle, Amber, and Emily Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents Spiro and Kula Coros, her brother George Coros, and her nephew Don Larue Clark.
No services have been scheduled at this time. She will be interred next to her brother George and mother Kula in Trinity, Florida.
