Marion Finnie's Obituary
Our beloved Mother, Marion Livingston Finnie, 74, of New Port Richey, chose to “check out of this rat race” (her words) on Sunday November 15, 2015. Marion was born in Glasgow, Scotland on July 8, 1941. She met and married the father of her children, Dean de Mello in Scotland while he was serving in the US Navy. They were married in April of 1963, and she moved to America shortly after. She was very proud of becoming an American citizen.
Marion accompanied Dean on several naval assignments relocating often. They spent time in New London CT, Memphis TN, Key West FL, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. After our father retired, Marion then settled with our family in Northern Virginia where she continued to reside for twenty eight years. While in Virginia, she was involved with local government in the Town of Herndon, until she retired after twenty years of faithful service. Marion then relocated to Texas and Florida to be close to her daughter and her two youngest grandchildren.
Marion enjoyed her love of proper English tea, reading, thunderstorms, sunsets, spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She became an avid cook soon after marriage, and all of us still enjoy her tasty recipes.
Together they raised two fine children, John and Krista, who later married to Kimberly de Mello and Keith Archibald. She was actively involved in raising her five beautiful grandchildren, Kerry, Madeline, Sarah, (de Mello), and Matthew and Mackenzie, (Archibald).
She is preceded in death by her parents Selina and John Finnie. She is also survived by her brother James and Maureen Finnie and extended family in Scotland and England as well as her close friends.
Marion was loved for her Scottish wit and generosity. She will be forever missed.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 21 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Gardens Chapel. There will be a time of sharing beginning at 1:30 p.m.
