Marie Hermide Elysee's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Marie Hermide Elysee
July 7, 1940 – July 20, 2025
Marie Hermide Elysee, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on July 20, 2025 after 85 years of a rich life full of joy, faith, and connection.
Her journey took her from the shores of Jacmel, Haiti to the bustling streets of Brooklyn, NY, and eventually to the sunny warmth of Tampa, FL, where she spent her later years surrounded by family and love. No matter where life took her, Marie brought light and laughter with her. She had a gift for lighting up any room. She was charismatic, funny, and always ready to dance to Kompa. She was always the life of the party, bringing rhythm and laughter everywhere she went.
Marie had a deep love for God, and her gratitude for life was evident to all those she came across. She loved to explore and flannen throughout her surroundings with ease and curiosity. She was an avid traveler and thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing on her visits to Bogota & Medellin, Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Panama. She was also a lover of sweets, and someone who found joy in the simple pleasures of life.
She is survived by her five daughters —Merta, Nadine, Martine, Marie Reneé, and Norma — along with 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren who will continue to honor her legacy of joy, strength, and love.
Marie’s presence was a gift, and her spirit will live on in the music she danced to, the laughter she inspired, and the love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
