Maria Gonzalez de Roque's Obituary
Maria Dolores Gonzalez de Roque, known to many as “Dolores,” passed away on December 7, 2024, at the age of 92. Originally born in Cuba, she relocated to the United States in 1968. The great loves of her life were her husband, Juan R. Roque, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and Marisela’s Dance Studio, where she acted as director, touching the lives of countless dance students throughout the years.
Dolores is survived by her daughters, Mercedes and Marisela; sons-in-law William and Justo; grandchildren Jehovany, Victor, Catalina, Jennifer, and Jerreca; and her four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Juan R. Roque.
No greater tribute can be written to memorialize Dolores’s life than these words shared by Dalia Lastra and Family:
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of the great matriarch of Marisela’s Dance Studio, Maria Dolores Roque. If you ever stepped foot inside Marisela’s Dance Studio, you have most certainly been greeted with the larger-than-life personality that is Dolores. Her laugh was contagious, and she loved each and every student like they were her own. She always did an amazing job of running the day-to-day tasks for the studio and hardly ever missed a day. She helped run the studio with organization, skill, and love for her daughter’s dream. When it comes to the dreams of her daughters, grandchildren, and the dance studio family, there is nothing Dolores wouldn’t do. She put her heart into the dance studio and loved every second of it. Although this loss is hard for us, we are happy to know that Dolores is in a better place and is finally reunited with the love of her life. Dolores, you will be missed by many! Fly high with your Viejo. Until we meet again.”
