Lyle Waterman's Obituary
Lyle Waterman Jr., 73, of Wesley Chapel, FL, passed away on September 12, 2024. He was born October 7, 1950, in Toledo, OH, to Lyle and Sally Waterman. He grew up in Northbrook, IL, graduating from Glenbrook North High School in 1968, then relocated to Florida to attend the University of South Florida, graduating in 1975 with a degree in education. He met the love of his life, Jeannie, and they were married on June 24, 1978, in a small, intimate ceremony. The couple raised their three daughters, Heather, Kelly, and Kasey, in Temple Terrace, FL.
Lyle began his career teaching high school history but then found his passion in sales and business, specializing in the steel and wire mesh industry. He and Jeannie started their own manufacturer’s representative company, Waterman & Associates. After 35+ years of hard work, Lyle retired to Wesley Chapel in 2019 to spend more time traveling with his wife.
When he was not working, Lyle could often be found rooting for his beloved Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Tampa Bay Lighting teams, listening to music, and watching old movies. He enjoyed horse racing and loved to watch the Kentucky Derby. Family was very important to Lyle, and throughout his lifetime, he loved spending holidays and quality time with them. His family fondly remembers the times they would spend around the dining room table playing poker and other card games. Playing cards was something he always did with his family, as well as in his spare time. He was well-known for his unique storytelling ability, sharing stories not only about his childhood and his life experiences, but also amazing fantasy stories that he would write about and share with his wife and his family. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, advice on life, generosity, loyalty and his unwavering love for his family.
Lyle is survived by Jeannie Waterman, his wife of 47 years; his daughters Heather Barcia (Mike), Kelly Easom (Jason), and Kasey LaFond (Jake); and his grandchildren Madison and Brooke Barcia, Hailey and Andrew Easom, and Charlotte LaFond. He was preceded in death by his father Lyle Waterman Sr., his mother Sally Sheets, and his brother Larry Waterman.
