Lois Wolf's Obituary
Lois Wolf, born on January 24th, 1943, in Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Odessa, Florida.
She was the beloved daughter of Victor and Eleanor Hinrichs and little sister to Lee (who preceded her in death in 1962). In 1962, Lois married the love of her life, Greg Wolf, whom she met in Omaha, Nebraska. Their love story spanned several beautiful locales, including Nebraska, the Florida Keys, Tampa, and Odessa, Florida. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Johnny (who predeceased her in 1994), Brian (wife Kim), and Vicki (husband John). Lois was a proud and devoted grandmother to Megan (Rodrigo), Aaron (Sarah), Heidi, Nick (Zoey), Angie (Yashua), Johnathan (Yiselle), and Jesse, and a cherished great-grandmother to Lilian, Jackson, Wyatt, Amelia, Jenesys, and Jonas.
A lifelong Lutheran, Lois' Christian family included congregations in all states in which she resided. Upon moving to Florida, this included Grace Lutheran Church in Key West, and St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Tamp for several decades, followed by her membership at Bethel Lutheran Church in Clearwater, where she worshipped faithfully for the past two decades.
Lois was known for her incredible warmth and her gift for storytelling. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her. She had a deep love for nature, particularly manatees, and pelicans, and found great joy and peace at Bok Tower. Lois was fond of Boston Terriers her entire life and knew and loved 11 of them, with Butch being the remaining Boston who will continue as part of the family with Vicki and John.
Professionally, Lois began her medical career as an X-ray Technician at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. She became a stay-at-home mom after leaving Nebraska to live in Florida. Lois re-entered the workforce by extending her nurturing spirit as a teacher's assistant at Holy Trinity Lutheran School in Tampa, FL, where her three children attended. She resumed her medical career in 1978, as a Radiation Therapy Technologist, Lead Technician, for Dr. William S. Maxfield. She later retired in 1986 due to the severity of her rheumatoid arthritis.
Whether during her years in the medical field caring for patients, her years as a Sunday school teacher, a mother, a grandmother, and all roles Lois encompassed, she made a lasting impression on children and adults alike. Lois' life was a testament to love, faith, and service. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the countless others whose lives she touched. Her legacy of love and warmth will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation at 10:30 AM and service at 12:30 PM will be Friday, June 7, 2024, at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Trinity, Fl.
Flowers accepted or donations can be made in memory of Lois to Save the Manatees (savethemanatees.org) or Bethel Lutheran Church in Clearwater, FL.
